Wrap Up of October

We had a busy October.

My daughter Kayli and her fiancé Chad got married.

Here is a picture of their beautiful family.

These se two came home from Arkansas to attend the wedding, it was great to have them home again.

We had a small reception with a little karaoke action.

That’s my son Nic, my aunt Marilyn, and me singing for the crowd.

It was a great night with lots of family and good friends!

Then we had Halloween, of course.

Here is a shot of Hudson with his ghostly gourd.

Food and Family/Pasta and Kids

My daughters were in a wedding recently, so we just couldn’t resist a photo-op.

One of their high school buddies got married.

Anytime all of my children are going to be home at the same time Mom and I have a dinner.

This time we had pasta.

Mom made her famous lasagna.

Recipe to come as soon as possible.

I made this Chicken Pasta Primavera.

It was very good.

Here is the recipe:

4 cloves chopped garlic

1 C cut up broccoli

1/2 C diced onion

1 C  bite sized carrots

1 C sliced zucchini

1 C sliced yellow squash

2 C  sliced white button mushrooms

1 chopped bell pepper

5 T  butter

2 T olive oil

1 1/2 lbs cooked whole wheat penne pasta

4 cooked and cut up, large chicken breasts

Sauce:

1 1/2 C  chicken broth

1 C  heavy whipping cream

1 C half-and-half

1 C grated parmesan cheese

basil leaves to taste

salt and pepper to taste

Cook all vegetables, a few at a time, until al dente in 4T of butter and the olive oil in your skillet on the stove top.

Then remove all the vegetables and make your sauce.

Pour your chicken broth in skillet, along with your remaining 1 T of butter for about 1 min.

Add whipping cream, half-and-half, grated parmesan cheese.

 Tear in your basil leaves.

Salt and pepper to taste.

Stir everything together at this point.

YUM

But the favorite dish that was made was a Oreo pudding dessert.

That recipe is coming up next.

Shopping With The Twins

My girls are just beautiful, if I do say so myself.

This picture would have been better if I had just stepped out of it and took it of just them!

Trader Joe’s is always a favorite place for us to go.

All natural and great prices.

Then we headed to do some antique shopping.  We knew that we were headed in the right direction when we saw this sign.

They have several stores in the area that we went to, so many that we didn’t get to go to all of them.

I really wanted these pussy willow branches, but I didn’t get them because I had already got the forsythia branches that I am very excited about.

There was a lot of furniture.  Pretty much anything you could possibly want.

I am in love with the bottom cabinet in this picture, maybe for my new mud room?

Kami liked this cabinet, she needs a place for her new dishes, you know.

More on this enamel topped, rolling table later.

A little traffic direction never hurt anyone!

This is what Kami bought.  The cutest little red chairs and……………………

this old wooden, fold up table.  Very cool!!

We went to Margaritaville’s  to eat.

Kami and I had these chicken, pepper cheese, and spinach tamales.

Kayli had this plate of chicken and lettuce covered with pepper cheese and spinach.

So, we all pretty much had the same thing.

It was delicious!!

On the way home, it started to rain and this beautiful rainbow came out and made the day perfect!

We have to do this again!!!

You think that you’re raising your kids but they’re really raising you.

Dishes Of The Month

These dishes are some that I have had for over 20 years.

I started buying them one at a time at the grocery store until I had the set.

They are beautiful.

The original set was a set of eight, dinner plates, saucers, bowls, and glasses.

I found four extra plates at an antique store about ten years ago.

The extras with this set are a divided plate, pedestal cake plate, and a large bowl.

The design on these dishes is very pretty.

You will be seeing these again shortly because they are going to my daughter’s house this Sunday.  She is making Sunday dinner for all of us. And I am taking these dishes to her and blogging about it (of course).

When I started collecting these dishes I did it so I could give them to my daughters when they had a home of their own.

My daughter, Kayli already has hers.  They were a set that my Grandma Stroup gave to me and Kayli’s dad when we got married.

 Kamille is ready for hers.

Today is Kayli and Kamille’s birthday.

They are 27.

I have a lot of pictures of them, but this one is my favorite!

You can see their children in these little faces.

My how time flies!!!

This is a recent picture of them.

They both turned out to be beautiful young women, inside and out.

I love you, both.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

I have been so blessed having you in my life.
