Our Front Door – March – April

I usually have this cross hanger on my door every month, but this month it is especially right.

My little yellow-flowered wreath looks like it was meant to be hanging with it.

My granddaughter, Kennedy’s eyes lit up when see saw these eggs in  the basket.

As you can see,  two of my helpers, my grandson, Michael and Shafer, can hardly wait to get outside.  They are pretty much right by my side at all times.

Everyone’s welcome!

Come on over!!

Spring Trees

There are some beautiful trees blooming around town now.

I took a little drive and took photos of some of them.

Here they are………..

This is my neighbors tree with white blooms all over it.

This is my favorite spring-flowering tree.

I don’t know what it is called, so I just call it a tulip tree.

We had one of these in our yard when we were growing up, it is small enough that you can climb it and still be really close to the ground.

And another one.

I like the purple flowering trees, too.

Don’t you?

I have some gardening to do today, yesterday Shafer and I didn’t get much done!

Forcing Branches

When the twins and I went shopping a couple of weeks ago, I bought these forsythia branches at Trader Joe’s.

I have never tried this before, so we’ll see how it turns out.

They bloomed!!

It took them about a week and a half to put a smile on my face.

I think they are beautiful.

Behind the branches is my pot of chives.  I have already used these twice this year!

This picture is of the branches sitting on the island in my kitchen with the morning sun shining on them.

I am definitely going to do this again, it turned out great!!

My Garden This Month – March

The garden is getting exciting already this year.

For me, it’s exciting when ANY plant comes rising up out of the soil that I planted the year before.

Below is a picture of  a mum plant that is green and growing.

These little leaves are on a hydrangea that I planted last summer.

Yay!!!

This little bush starts out with green leaves, then they turn a dark red.

If anyone knows what it is called, I would appreciate the info.

Duh!

I have 3 small rows planted so far, lettuce – radishes – lettuce.

Here are some buds on my hydrangea that I planted 2 years ago.

Tomorrow I am going to plant some potatoes, peas, and onions.

Wish me luck!

What does your garden look like this month?

Dinner on the Boat

Okay, this is the last post that I am doing on the cruise.

It is just such a unique experience that I wanted to give it it’s due time.

Every evening at dinner they had a category on the menu of “something that you always wanted to try”.  One time it was shark bites, another time it was alligator, they had snails, and sushi.   Here is a picture of frog legs, they were good.  Of course, I tried this category every night.

They came with the tiniest rolls and butter.

Portobela mushroom salad.

This was our head waiter.

I miss him.

I would love to have a waiter and chef at home on a regular basis.

Oh yes, the waiters sing, dance,

and dance,

dance on top of things,

and dance.

Our tables were in the balcony.  Here is a picture of the first floor dining.

Did I mention that the waiters danced for us?

We dressed up for dinner every night.

Uncle Gary – Aunt Sherri – Uncle Ted – Me – Cousin Angel

In my opinion, you can never spend too much time with family that also are some of your best friends!!!
