Happy Memorial Day

As long as I can remember on Memorial Day Mom and I went with Grandma and put flowers on many graves.

Grandma has alzheimer’s now and I am just realizing how very thoughtful that was of her, not to just do it, but to take Mom and I with her every year.

Last night Big Ran and I put flowers on Dad’s grave, it looks very nice.

Mom had already put a flower decorated lawnmower on it.

But next year, I am going to go with Mom and take one, two, or all of my kids with us, and start a new tradition.

With all of that said, I would like to thank all the serving military and their families for their service and of course, today to remember all of those who served our country and are no longer with us and their families.

I hope everyone is flying their American flag high and proud today!!

God Bless America!!

Patriotic Decorations

I have been decorating again.  I am a little late since the 4th of July is right around the corner.  But I have got a little time to enjoy the red, white, and blue!

Here are some decorations that I have put up in my kitchen.

Thank you to all of our heroes who gave us our freedom!!

Have a great Independence Day!!

Happy Memorial Day

Remembering and honoring those who have lost their lives serving our great country.

And giving thanks to those who are still defending all of us.

In this picture I am sending my husband back to Iraq for 4 more months of protecting us.  We are at the airport in Kansas City.  HARD DAY!!

And of course, my other hero,  my dad in his navy hat.

Very Proud Of Both Of Them!!!

Happy Memorial Day!!

Madison’s Track Season

My daughter Madison just finished her 7th grade track season.

This was her first year running track.

Here she is getting the hand off from her teammate Sara in the 4X400 meter relay.

They got four 1st place medals and two 2nd place medals in this relay this year!

Most of the track meets were very cold, windy and rainy.

At one track meet it even snowed for a little while.

She won two 3rd place medals for the 200 meter dash.

She won two 3rd place medals and one 4th place medal for the 400 meter dash.

She won a second place metal in the 100 meter dash.

The 4X200 Meter relay team won a second place medal.

Here we are at the long jump.

She won a 4th place medal in this event.

Now to understand her achievements, you have to know this.

She is a 7th grader.

She is running and jumping against 7th and 8th graders.

They had 6 track meets.

SHE WON 14 MEDALS!!!!!!

I am very proud of her accomplishments!

Dishes For The Month

These pretty yellow plates are the inspiration for this month’s dishes.

I got 6 of them at a garage sale 2 or 3 years ago.

These napkins match them perfectly.

I found them at Target.

I got this egg plate at an auction of my neighbor, who I lived by as a child.

It is supposed to have little salt and pepper shakers shaped like eggs in the middle of it.

If anyone knows where I can find some, please let me know!

This is a Pyrex covered dish.

I have fallen in love with Pyrex!!

I bought this little polka dot plate at a garage sale.

Transferware.

I have no idea where this came from!!

Dishes I have bought from Nell Hill’s in Atchison, Kansas.

Depression glass

This is all Fiesta Ware.

Some are old and some are new.

I think it makes the kitchen look fresh.

What do you think?
