Lots of Birthday Celebrations

We  had 6 birthdays in July to celebrate.

My birthday was the 9th and my daughter, Kayli made this for my birthday dinner.

Stuffed red peppers!

They were delicious.

These cupcake sized desserts were so heavenly.

One of the guys that I work with brought these in for my birthday at work.

His wife saw that it was my birthday on Facebook and made them for us.

So sweet!

Thank you Connie!!

For my son, Nic’s Birthday on the 18th, I made a chicken fried steak dinner, with mashed potatoes and gravy.

One of his favorite meals.

Here is the Pioneer Woman’s Recipe that I used:

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds Cube Steak (tenderized Round Steak That’s Been Extra Tenderized)
  • 1-1/2 cup Whole Milk, Plus Up To 2 Cups For Gravy
  • 2 whole Large Eggs
  • 3 cups All-purpose Flour
  • Seasoned Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cayenne
  • LOTS Of Black Pepper. Lots.
  • Canola Oil, For Frying
  • Salt And Pepper, For Both Meat And Gravy

Preparation Instructions

Begin with an assembly line of dishes for the meat: milk mixed with egg in one; flour mixed with spices in one; meat in one; then have one clean plate at the end to receive the breaded meat.

Work one piece of meat at a time. Season both sides with salt and pepper, then dip in the milk/egg mixture. Next, place the meat on the plate of seasoned flour. Turn to coat thoroughly. Place the meat back into the milk/egg mixture, turning to coat. Place back in the flour and turn to coat.
(So: wet mixture/dry mixture/wet mixture/dry mixture.) Place breaded meat on the clean plate, then repeat with remaining meat.

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Drop in a few sprinkles of flour to make sure it’s sufficiently hot. Cook meat, three pieces at a time, until edges start to look golden brown; around 2 to 2 1/2 minutes each side.

Remove to a paper towel-lined plate and keep warm. Repeat until all meat is cooked.

GRAVY:

After all meat is fried, pour off the grease into a heatproof bowl. Without cleaning the pan, return it to the stove over medium-low heat. Add 1/4 cup grease back to the pan. Allow grease to heat up.

Sprinkle 1/3 cup flour evenly over the grease. Using a whisk, mix flour with grease, creating a golden-brown paste. Keep cooking until it reaches a deep golden brown color. If paste seems more oily than pasty, sprinkle in another tablespoon of flour and whisk.

Whisking constantly, pour in milk. Cook to thicken the gravy. Be prepared to add more milk if it becomes overly thick. Add salt and pepper and cook for 5 to 10 minutes, until gravy is smooth and thick. Be sure to taste to make sure gravy is sufficiently seasoned.

Serve meat next to a big side of mashed potatoes. Pour gravy over the whole shebang!

Kennedy turned 5, Michael turned 2, and Hudson turned 1

and Big Ran turned 48, all on the 31st!

Don’t they look festive in their Mexican hats?

Michael loved wearing his.

Hudson was more interested in the singing and clapping that the waiters were doing.

Grandpa and his birthday grandkids.

We have been very busy to say the least.

More fun times to come!

Gracyn’s Birthday #3

My granddaughter,  Gracyn’s birthday was June 28th.

I did a post about her present that I mailed to her.

It was a bunch of pink balloons filled with coins and a fairy costume.

She loved it!

Here she is.

She loves playing dress up.

She has never had a dress up costume with wings, so when she put it on she thought she should be able to fly!

Don’t you just love the innocence of a child.
Happy Birthday Gracyn!
Gaga loves you.

Grandma’s 95th Birthday

My grandma is quite a character.

She enjoys life more than most people.

Some of my best memories of growing up are of my grandma.

We all got together for her birthday celebration.

My brother, Bill – Aunt Belinda – Grandma – Uncle Vic – Mom – Madison

 Nic – Michael – Kennedy – Kayli – Hudson.

Here is a 5 generation picture.

Not very many people can say that they have 5 generations in their family!

Mom asked her if she feels old and her answer was, “What’s the difference if you are 16 or 95?

Gotta love her!!!

“The Twins” Birthday

Today is Kayli and Kamille’s birthday.

They are 27.

I have a lot of pictures of them, but this one is my favorite!

You can see their children in these little faces.

My how time flies!!!

This is a recent picture of them.

They both turned out to be beautiful young women, inside and out.

I love you, both.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

I have been so blessed having you in my life.

Happy birthday to you…and you…and you!

What are the odds of one mother having three children…who are not triplets…born on the same day of the year?

Kennedy Ann, Hudson Lee, and newest member Michael Warner were all born on July 31I have no idea!” said Kayli
Warner of Gallatin. Yet all three of her children were born on July
31!

Kayli’s oldest, Kennedy Ann, was
born on July 31, 2007. She weighed 7 pounds, 15 ounces, and was 20 ½ inches
long. Her second child, Michael, was born at 2:08 a.m. on July 31, 2010. He
weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces, and was 20 1/2 inches long. The newest member of the
family, Hudson Lee, was born at 4:19 p.m. on July 31, 2011. He weighed 7 pounds,
5 ounces, and was 20 ½ inches long.

Kayli said she came to accept
the triple birthdays as a blessing.

“When my water broke two weeks
early with Michael on the 30th, I was hoping he would come before the 31st so
that he and Kennedy didn’t have to share a birthday,” said Kayli. “When Hudson’s
due date was so close to the other two I just thought it would be better to have
him on the same day rather than a few days away, but I never thought it would
actually happen.”

Kayli has always shared her
birthday with her twin sister Kami.

“This never bothered me, so I
hope my children will think it is special rather than dislike it,” she
said.

Maternal grandparents are Mike
Burrell, and Randy and Sally Goin, all of Gallatin. Great-grandparents are Nancy
Caldwell, and Charles and Dolleta Burrell. Great-great-grandmother is Virginia
Stroup.

Paternal grandparents are John
and Debbie Goodwin, and Roy and Gail Warner. Great-grandmother is Bonnie
Simpson.

Kayli began her job as the
second grade teacher at Pattonsburg R-2 Elementary School this year.

The biggest question of the
three-way birthday may be who gets to decide the flavor of the cake.

“I’m not really sure yet,” said
Kayli. “This year I just got two different cakes. One was white with The Little
Mermaid. It was Kennedy’s pick. The other was chocolate with The Smurfs for
Michael’s first birthday.” She also served both vanilla and chocolate ice cream.

“Needless to say, we had plenty
of leftover treats,” she said. “I’m sure this will get more difficult as they
get older.”
